A message from our CEO

Page-1-Image-1.jpgI would like to introduce myself as the new Chief Executive Officer of Heaven’s Hands Community Services, Inc. (HHCS). I am thrilled to continue my nearly eight-year-long journey with HHCS in this new capacity.

As a Licensed Social Worker, I’ve spent most of my professional career dedicating myself to the advocacy and development of services within the I/DD community. I’ve worn many hats during this path; I have previously served as a Director for various departments; Waiver services, Training and Education, and Day Habilitation programming. More recently, I have served as HHCS's Chief Operating Officer, overseeing multiple operational umbrellas, including support programming, compliance, quality improvement, workforce education, and other administrative departments. Through these experiences, I have gained a real understanding of NYS OPWDD’s structure, policies, and the coordination of those systems and services. My priority is in providing a rewarding foundation in services that continue to afford new opportunities, enhancement in the quality of support and services provided, and experiences for the I/DD community.  So when the opportunity was presented to me in stepping into the role of CEO at HHCS, it was a no-brainer; especially when the organization has such strong core values that are aligned with a person-centered mission and vision.

Through my tenure, I personally have seen the renewed growth of HHCS as we continued to stand out as a leading service provider. HHCS is built on excellent customer service in an aligned environment built on honesty, respect, and integrity. HHCS has some of the most dedicated and passionate professionals in the field whose desire to continue to learn and grow never ceases while giving their all for the I/DD population.

While change is never easy, in beginning this new path, the most fulfilling part will be the ability to maintain relationships with the wonderful individuals and families that we support throughout Queens and Brooklyn. Each of you truly make HHCS the great organization that it is today, has been for many years and will be in perpetuity. In light of current environmental conditions, we will continue to be creative and on the frontlines of ingenuity to support each of your needs.

As the new executive leader at HHCS, I will continue to encourage growth and development among my amazing team; while ensuring the people that we support have the resources they need to succeed. I will keep my ear to the ground, be an advocate for advancement, solution for supports and services, and of course continue to bring recognition to the I/DD community.

While it is certainly sad for all of us to say goodbye to Lorenzo Brown, the Founder and former CEO of Heaven’s Hands Community Services, Inc., we understand that his next chapter (and his bike) is calling. I would like to thank Lorenzo for building HHCS's mission, and vision, all the while instilling strong core values leading us to the path of success where we find ourselves today. Lorenzo has tirelessly provided each employee with the support and encouragement necessary, and the confidence to know that the future is always bright.

Please remember, I am always just a phone call or email away. You can reach me at brothenstein@hhcsny.org or 718-788-5252.

Thank you,

Bryan Rothenstein, LMSW
